I beat my radar detector ticket!
well can they detect if the radar detector is off? because im driving my brother car for a lil while and he has one, right next to the radio is this on and off switch, like a light switch. last time i saw a state trooper and i knew he was there i just flicked it off just to be sure. does that work?
Lol about the ziploc, seriously. I can't believe I did that. About the VG-2...my detector had it and that's why I am warning you all. Although Whistler is cheap I have read that their VG-2 protection is actually really good but I still got caught.
Yea I had my RD on when I drove down to FL with my girlfriend. I was passing by Quantico..and it was like 2230 or something..I was doing about 80 along with 2 other cars..one on the left lane, one infront of me in the middle lane. I assume the car infront of me had one aswell cuz he hit his brake all of the sudden and 2 seconds later my radar started going off. So I looked on the left and out the cut this state trooper came out with high beams and flying like a bat out of hell. I quickly unplugged it and slightly pulled my handbrake until I was at about 65, and I saw him coming up with his lights on..so first thought in my mind was DAMN!!! but just as he was coming this idiot in a white G35 came speeding from the far right lane and cut me and the car infront of me off so the trooper when straight after him and pulled him over. THANKS G35 GUY!!!! You kept our FL vacation with no tickets!!!
The spectre radar detector detector(RDD) is the one is most common, VG2's are hardly used anymore.
Unfortunately the Bell Sti driver is the only one that is spectre immune but it will set you back ~$450. Supposedly Escort claims their new 9500ci.....or something like that is also spectre immune but I don't think its been independently tested yet.
Btw, if its turned off, it cannot be detected.

Bel STI is where it's at. Only one worth it. Otherwise, you will be pulled. I've installed some Bel STI detectors for well paid, well respected people that frequent the courthouse daily (for legal purposes other than being a defendant). These are people like lawyers, politicians, business owners, etc... Never a problem!
truckers use to do this when they would split log .... DOT has become wiser
i believe they still can't open or keep the envelope. i too heard about it first as a trucker solution. All i've heard for VA is they can confiscate and destroy the detector and for an STI i'm not looking to give it up. a padded box will take care of any ill feelings directed towards it and a small non-moving violation is fine compared to getting snagged at every speed trap.
