do you own an 08?

if you got it for less than 6k then good on you. that's what i was quoted at from cycle world, not even the color i wanted, along with a month-long wait. the salesman actually encouraged me to buy an sv650 or zx-6r for a couple hundred more. sunrise said they couldn't even get me one until the 09s came out. if you had a different experience then congratulations.

hence me buying this, and i loved the bike, for what it was intended for which was to learn to ride on. now i'm looking to get a 600, and maybe make a couple bucks off the sale. if you don't like it, then don't post!

edit- after some additional research, i have discovered you do not have an 08, and it seems there is a misconception. the 07s are easier to find, and much cheaper. there's always a reason. the 08 ninjas have been completely redesigned, and now actually look like a legitimate sportbike. many speculate this was done to compete with the hyosung, which looks way better than the 90s-looking ninja from 07 and older. i didn't want a bike that looked like that, and many others agreed, that's why dealers couldn't keep them in stock, and again, why i went with the hyosung. imo looks as good as or better than the 08 ninja, has more usable low-rpm torque, and much cheaper, contrary to what many people think. just do the research and you'll come up with the same answers i did, unless something's changed since july.

07 ninja 250r-

08 ninja 250r-

The I paid tax and title thing is a little lame as who ever buys your bike will pay sales tax and the titling fee just like you did. If that is above msrp they will in fact have to pay more taxes then you did.

Just a thought

You can't buy one for that price now. Anywhere.

The MSRP on any vehicle in high demand is irrelevant.

for one, when i was looking for one the msrp for an 08 (seems i have to keep reminding people) was 3499. looking at the website, i was like oh fuck yes, that's cheap as hell i'm going to get one this weekend. called up a dealer and found out that they don't even have any in stock, won't have any for at least a month, and if i wanted one i'd have to come up with 1000 down and was looking at about 6 grand out the door. i really don't understand why i have to keep repeating myself. just because a manufacturer's web site says it costs xxx amount, if people are willing to pay more for something then the dealers will ask more for it, and that's what happened. it's very simple. if you don't believe me, instead of arguing on vadriven, pick up a phone and call a dealer.

the fact remains, that i highly doubt most people posting in this thread are interested in buying my bike. and those who are, arguing with me about my price isn't going to make me drop it anytime soon. you want me to consider dropping it, hit me with a reasonable offer.

tim, jesus, i appreciate the sanity check. i do have to remind myself sometimes that this is vadriven, where the only way you'll ever sell anything on here is if you ask for half of what it's worth or less.

trust me dude... i thought 6k for a 250 was nuts as well, but apparently people were buying them for that. i actually almost did myself.

another reason i'm asking this much for this bike is i don't really want to sell it, but if someone is willing to take it off my hands and i can make a couple hundred off it, i won't say no. if i get no hits in a few days, i'll probably lower the price.

edit- will consider trades for a used 600 in good condition. has to be fairly new though... say, at least 03 or newer.
