Driving down the road today my speedometer just stopped working and i herd a loud "breaking" noise from under the hood, now my vtec will not engage and the car is bouncing around idling between 1000 and 2000. Please help me I tried to change the speed sensor with a buddy of mines and it did nothing, we put oil in the car and that did nothing. Any idea's

 

hope you checked your oil before adding oil. don't want to put more than your oil pan capacity.

 

i did it was super low, thought at first that could have cause it but no it was in dire need of oil.

 

Might be a odd chance but check around and in the intake manifold, my buddy once had his short ram on

his car and a weird plastic peice from the short ram broke and got stuck into his manifold and it started

revving and idling around 2k. Hope this helps!

 

VTEC works from oil pressure. Might wanna check your oil pump.
As far as the Speedometer going out, usually a result from a failed VSS.

I would also check the compression in each of the cylinders.

 

the speed sensor....check the plug and the sensor ,,,little nipples rot

 

So, I was right? It was the VSS?

 

fixed it, alternator went bad and cause the battery to fail and lose a cell and then it blew a fuse, but thanks to some friends we fixed it thanks for the help.

 

so when the alt went bad it cause a loud breaking noise from the engine bay???

 

its not worth the battle lol. we'll just say yes and he is part tard
