The more I look into it the more I want an outboard
I mean with the outboards they have today its no reason not to. And if you get like a 150 you should get 3.5-4.5gph(fuel burn rate) @ 4500rpm all day. And at idle it just sips fuel. I have about 10-15 friends that are commercial fisherman and they have ALL switched to suzuki's. Most of the have 3000 hrs or more on their motors with no major problems. My friend phil bought a 225 yami at the beginning of this year and it blew up on him with less than 500 hrs. And technically wasnt under warranty because it was for commercial use. Either way.......a $15,000 motor should not have blown up in less than 500 hrs. I really like yamaha but I shear away at a yamaha outboard. Needless to say phil runs a suzuki now. Any outboard I buy from here on out should be a suzuki. Here is a spread sheet on a 22ft boat. It will kind of give you a idea on fuel consumption...speed and what not http://www.suzukimarine.com/uploads/...20FX_SZ150.pdf . And thats a nice set up. Very economical and not much $ to run but its plenty of boat.
