My boys 2000 Eclipse V6 has rpm fluctuation problems. But first let me give you the run down on modifications, he bought the car as is.

Modifications Engine Wise
- Apexi Rev/Speed/other Electronic Meter
- Borla Exhaust System
- Borla Headers
- Injen Air Intake System

Things to take note about
- There are two 02sensors for each header, none after the cat. converter.
- The second of the 02sensors in the front 1st header is wired to the apexi device and ecu area. Also is equiped with a 02 sensor bung hole lol sorry.
- Automatic Trans.
- OBD sensor showed no codes
- SES light is on
- No known vaccum line leaks found

Well heres the run down. When he starts the car and its in park, it runs around 800rpm; pretty normal. When shifted to drive it drops to or below 500rpm with a very rough rpm fluctuation. Did it just start doing it one random day?
Did he buy it with that problem?
Did it start happening after he installed a modification?
Did he fuck with the Apexi SAFC?
Did you fuck with the Apexi SAFC?

 

it started doing it one cold ass morning, thats when the apexi didnt turn on at first. we didnt do the mods because he bought as is. it ran perfectly for about a week. i traced all wires for any fried or loss connections none yhat i can find.

 

Is the idle the only problem? Does it run and drive normal?

 

SES Light on + No codes doesn't make sense. If the light is on, there should be codes.

 

borla never made header for the v6 eclipse. Is the EGR blocked off for the headers? I would take out the apexi first its not doing anything good for the car.

 

I don't see anything on the mod list that would require any kind of tuning modification, so why not get rid of the junky piggyback controller?

 

oh i just assumed that the exhaust and headers were the same, no name headers. but conclusion at my last reply

 

soo we took it to KAZ Auto on 610. It was a bad wiring job from the apexi to the ecu. The bad connection gave no spark to cylinder #1. $400 to fix it. But thank you all for your info.
