It actually doesn't help cooling at all. That area between the hood and the window is a high pressure area, so in reality it doesn't let heat vent out, actually keeps it in.

 

Damn, makes me miss college, and for a reason other than titties. I wish I still got to play around with $50,000 CAD packages.

 

I miss labs at the Langely AFB wind tunnel more than the computer programs we had. Titties at ODU were plentiful as well.

 

You can still help cooling, but it will act as an air intake if the pressure is high enough, and help push engine bay air under under the car or out through the fender openings. But no, its likely not helping much. Those CFD pictures show a high pressure spot over a sealed hood, but don't show what the static pressure is in the engine bay at that location. It really depends on what the pressure delta is between the engine bay and the base of the windshield. Once you get rid of separations between areas, things can change a lot.

 

 

I seriously don't get why this shit is still going on, much less why it took off in the first place. I know it mostly comes down to impressionable tards, cheap ebay shit, and people following trends that were meant as a something outlandish and stupid at first, but I just can't wrap my mind around why it's "cool" to do this shit.
