its definitely tough to make those surfaces proper, but not impossible, and definitely not hard enough to "not back up there work", its a pretty simple process actually. ya just have to not be lazy. knock it down with a heavy grit is the only scary part cause like xcelr8 said, it can tend to leave an uneven surface, but thats why ya use an adhesion agent and prime the hell out of it.knock that down with a lighter grit and theres your smooth surface for color.prolly wont match exactly though.

i dont know much about fiberglassing, but could you fiberglass the surface and then paint it?
