I can take care of all the issues you posted. They are mostly just basic, in some form or another so let me know if anybody else hasnt helped you.

 

you should be able to get to a system restore from start up by holding f10 or 12 most of the time there is is a system restore option in the bios and as mentoned above the rest is just plug and play except for the power button i know exactly what you are talking about but i dont think they sell replacements

 

Buy a radioshack button and solder it.

 

Thats going to be insanely hard to do and if he messes it up he might as well just throw everything away. He should just spend 20-100$ @ newegg for a new case and just transfer everything over. Also, fuck a system restore, I have a copy of Windows XP, I can reinstall it on your harddrive, update all your drivers, get you a copy of Kaspersky and call it a day!

does your computer give you a beep code when you start up?

diff comps have beep codes to let you know if your vid card is screwed etc.

I fixed the first computer for the family so thats done!

All the computers have Xp loaded on them. The switch is a simple job from what i was told but that still needs to be done. The computer with the monitor problem doesn't beep but i can hear it loading up. The monitor works so i am reading several tech sites trying to understand the problem.

 

With the switch......... i had the side panel off the computer and the switch was exposed.
