Default vtec problem

it didnt seem to do this before i did a full tune up . but my vtec seems to drop off and come back on once i hit like 7 grand, it doesnt do it at the same rpm everytime, its random, but it is when im getting on it, not around 6 or anything. i can feel both first and second stage vtec fading in and out. so where do you think my problem lies. what should i start checking first? any help is usefull for me. thank you.
Dan. oh its a B18C

Make sure you have the proper amount of oil.

i had the same problem with my b18 but it wasnt vtec going out it was losing fuel so it would die from that. i had to get a new high flow fuel pump but not sure if that is the same prob.

maybe the actual vtec solenoid is either bad, or either the vtec wire (green w/yellow stripe) isnt connected properly or is shorting out some where

yes there is a screen for the vtec solenoid...take it off and either buy a new one or clean it out..

i suggest you buy a new solenoid with a screen..., and do a continuity (sp) check on the actual vtec wire its self...check it at the ecu and at the actual solenoid
