Garage Car Club
This is my first post on this site, so take it easy on me.
Anyway, this weekend, I attended an "orginization meeting" for this car club in Blacksburg: The Garage Car Club. Maybe some of you have heard of them. Their whole mission is just to provide a place for people to work on their cars/trucks, and a wide knowledge base for people who want to learn about cars, but don't have to money to go to some nutty school. I would personally love to learn more about my car (or any car), and I certainly need a better place than the parking lot to work on my car...that's where this club WOULD come in (the even have a lift), if only I could afford the $20 dues, but that's not the issue.
The issue is this: this organization is in its infancy. They have a garage with a lift...and that is literally IT. They don't have any money, they don't have leadership, they don't have any aspirations, and more importantly, they don't have many really good people to help make good things happen.
I, personally, see great things in the future for an organization like this. In the meeting, they were talking about organizing car shows, and workshops...that's all good and all, but I'm a dreamer. I want to be in an orginization that builds race cars, and helps other people build up their cars. Or maybe build show cars, or teach people competitive driving, or whatever! The list of things that I'd like to see happen in this area could go on for pages and pages...but I'll spare everyone.
The point is, this club needs help
...otherwise it'll just be another bunch of nobodies that goes nowhere really slowly. There's no fun in going slow--I think everyone knows that.
Anyway, if anyone is interested, check out their website (which ALSO needs help) http://thegarage.org
At least, I THINK that's the address...I can't connect to it right this minute, but my internet is all over the place, so who knows? Or even better than just going to the website (if it still exists
) is to actually go to the meeting. They meet every saturday in Squires on-campus in front of Sbarros (actually in the corner closest to the bookstore) at 1:15...although because of the stunning leadership, things usually don't get started until 1:45 or 2:00 (Like I said, this place needs help).
You can now shower me with insults
Just kidding. See you at the races.
