Default Honda question

Ok I seen an 83 Civic for sale really cheap in fairly decent condition.

I was wondering what swaps have been or could be done with these if anyone knows? I was thinking maybe a D-series Vtec? ...could a K be crammed in there or a B?

I havent looked too seriously yet and just wanted to know if anyone has seen or done one of these before?

I know that you can put any motor in any car if you are willing to take the time and effort to do it...

I have seen a vid of one of these things with a swap in it. I have no idea what kind of swap but I am pretty sure you can fit a B in there. You will definately need to use a gsr intake manifold... Wiring will be the thing that slows you down I think...

I wouldnt waist any money on putting a swap in a 83 civic.. Its just not worth it. Trust me. Get a 88 and up..

@non-vtecpower
You should eat a dick.

If you want to put a swap in an 83 civic more power to you. You will need to gut the engine compartment and start from scratch. You will need to relocate the motor mounts because the EM1 motor mounts are in different locations. Not a problem if you are good with a torch and welder. You will also need custom axles. I am not sure if you will need a gsr intake manifold, but I know on a 88-91 hatch the Ls IM is too big so you need to buy a gsr intake manifold to make it fit. The wiring will be the hardest part because if you are swapping in an obd1 B series into an 83 civic you can see how different that is going to be. You will need to make a custom wiring harness.

It would be cheaper to just buy an ef or a crx and swap a B in. But that is so trendy, everybody has or has had a swapped ef or crx at one point. A swap in an 83 civic would definately be different from everybody else. You should do what you want to do. Some times the satisfaction of having something that not a lot of people have is worth more than the money it took to get it. especially if you do the swap yourself.

He's WAY more knowledgable then you.

Why do you think he should quit giving advise?

I listen to alot of things he says, and never seems to actaully be wrong. seems to be the wiser

and 83 civic..no matter how fugly they are

it would be a NICE sleeper

I think he was talkin about another post I wrote in another thread talking about honda pistons and automatically assumed that I know nothing about anything. Yes sir I was wrong about stock civic pistons not being flat tops! But I think it is stupid to take that and apply it to everything else that I say and just automatically discredit the advice that I give to other people... I dont care though, believe what you want to. Why should I care...
