Default Vibration at 4k

steve, this question is mostly for you but I made it a thread because I am wondering if any other riders have encountered this problem. I just got my bike back from the shop after my friend knocked it over and they replaced the clutch cover, brake pedal, and throttle. It seems to run fine (I am always parinoid something is ready to break though) but in between 4 and 4.5k it makes a very strange rattling noise it comes on and then disappears. At first I thought it was the chain but then I heard it while the bike was idling high with the choke on so I ruled that out. I hypothized that it is a braket or fitting that is lose somewhere and is reaching the proper harmonic level to vibrate. I am not sure though. Any ideas? Could this be something terribly catostrophic? I am debating taking it back to the shop that worked on my bike and giving them a hard time but I do not want to be an ass if I do not have to.

yeah as I was riding to work this morning I realized I forgot to post the type of bike. The bike is a 500 ex or 500 r or ex500 or ninja 500 whatever you want to call it same bike it is a 91.

it's probabaly just something a lil loose, or a cable or something that didn't get routed right. first thing to check would be all the stuff that was replaced, and check the clutch cable, make sure it's not just vibrating against something.

or it could be your keys if there are additional objects on the ring. I had thought something was wrong with my bike cause i heard a weird noise then i notice my disc lock key was rattling off the bike at lower speeds. That sound scared me sh1tless

I thought it was the keys too so I only put in the actual key to my bike. Vibration happens exactly between 4 and 4.5 k which makes me believe it is harmonic vibrations. I can not tell if it is something deeper in the engine though which worries me.

on a side note, a bunch of keys hanging off you ignition will wear out a switch quick, not to mention tear up your upper triple clamp.
