Long hours, crappy work, even crappier pay and the lovely stench of the sea will follow you home. My brother worked one 10 years ago and still complains about that paticular job.

You deff have to want to do it. I crabbed for 7years and I actually(spell?) miss it. You can make good money at it. but your hard part will be getting the lic. to do it. They just dont hand them out like you prob think they do.

Me and a few other guys I know on the board have had the pleasure to work on a commercial crabbing boat. We worked the southern branch of the elizabeth river and off of craney island on my uncle's boat.
Just think 4am mornings everyday except Sunday, the foul smell of rotten bait, jellyfish all over your face, wet hands and feet. Oh, and you can't forget the weather on hot ass days like today.

hahahaha. Yeah. We've been doing it for like 15 years. The money's alright, but it's the worst job I've ever had. My uncle has a full time job, so we pretty much run the boat now. I would do it as a career maybe as a last resort. Today I finished my last class I needed for my finance degree, so I don't plan on crabbing for that much longer. Uggh. Can't wait to wake up early as hell tomorrow and pull 500 pots in a stank ass boat.
