speedometer doesn't work

i have 93 civic coupe dx and my speedometer just stops working sometimes. i can get to come back by chirping 2nd gear sometimes but it doesnt always work. what will fix it?

The speed sensor on the transmission sounds like it is going bad.

Yes. Check the hardware under the car.

dun only say speedsensor....my speedometer head burnt out coz of a faulty signal...but you should the sensor soon because the faulty wave pattern can screw up the speedometer head
