Default d15b Vtech in a 98 civic ex???

I have a 98 civic ex with a blown d16y8. I have been trying to find a motor to replace it with but keep running in to the same old $2000+ quote from a shop. I heard that a d15b vtech will work in the car. I was wondering if anyone had any info on a good y8 motor for inexpensive or what would be involved in doing the jdm d15b swap? I would like to get this full swap done for under $1400 if possible. Please HELP!!!

vtech , that might be why they are giving you high prices, remove the h at the end of c and call them back. The shop is trying to rape you, bring your car to my house with the motor and ill do it for 100$ plus your blown block
