Airbags to pass inspection?
Im sorry if this is the wrong section.
I have heard two different stories on weither you need them or not. I have heard that If they came in the car from the factory they have to be in the car. On the other hand I have heard that if they are in the car they have to be operational, but if not in the car then you dont need them to pass.
Can anyone please clear this up for me? Thank you

if it was equipped it has to be there. as far as it being functional, as long as there are no lights I dont think they could tell any difference. Please correct if wrong

actually earlier this year... Airbags system is not an inspectable item anymore... even you have a SRS light on - it will pass... even if you have an aftermarket steering wheel - it will pass - as long as it is not deployed and sitting there... lol who will drive that way anyways

To the OP- what is your specific situation with the airbag?

Inspection bulletin #330 Effective Aug 1, 2007
EXCEPTION: Do not reject if the air bag has been deployed or removed, provided the air bag warning light has been disabled.

The SRS light has to indicate it is functional during the "bulb check test"
If your air bag system has been disabled, then it will pass. But, next year it is going to change back to the it has to work law.
The state trooper is even sitting right next to me as I type this, he is doing his monthly check up at our facility.
