Variable Compression Ratio?!?!
I was just reading my new copy of Road & Track when they had an article on the 240sx successor and when decribing the powerplant they said the SR20DE will be replaced w/ a 1.6l Turbo w/ "VCR" variable compression ratio. Now i think that is pretty damn cool there will be no curve to the powerband high comp/minimal boost and low comp at high boost. These guys at Nissan are friggin smart! Here is a link to the article! http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....rticle_id=6890

Re: Variable Compression Ratio?!?!
I don't know about a monster. They're calling for 225bhp in stock form. Given the voodoo they're using to manage the compression ratio/boost, I don't know that one would simply be able to up the boost.
I love the return of the affordable sports car, I just wonder how long it would take the aftermarket to catch up on it.

Re: Variable Compression Ratio?!?!
If by smart you mean in typical Japanese fashion they copied someone else's idea. Saab introduced VCR technology back in 2000 and won engineering awards for it that year and 2001. Saab's was also a 1.6 liter engine but super charged. GM cancelled the project due to cost.

Re: Variable Compression Ratio?!?!
V12 thanks for the link so Nissan could really do good things w/ this VCR i mean they were showing a 30% fuel savings using it and also said that by 2010 they would be cheaper to produce than that a diesel or a hybrid providing the same fuel consumption and performance. Here is a link I found that seems to explain it all! http://www.nissan-global.com/EN/TECH...VCR/index.html
