OP, to answer your question for power:
the easiest, cheapest route is usually HIE
Header
Intake
Exhaust
However, I would put money in a bigger intake manifold, a cam(s), a pulley system, and maybe some suspension work. Handling is everything, but thats my opinion.

i heard NAZZ energy drink in the gas tank works wonders. sport bike guys are doing it.
and an adjustable head gasket works well. 2.4-2.6 layers

throttle in a bottle is cheap- check out NX, ZEXX, or NO2.
