Here are some track times from last night...not the best it's done but the mph was. I ran a 8.49 at 86 mph a few wekks ago. Just wondering what some opinions are on my 1/4 if I hooked better. The run I'm posting I launched the car at 1300rpm because it was spinning so bad launching at 1700 on nitto 555r.

What are some 1/4 mile guesses if they car would hook better?
Also the car weighs 3500 with me in it...how much hp do you think it's making with the 87mph trap? It went 84 with 300/310 hp/tq. This is with a pulley swap and meth injection.

8.7 13.5

An 8.7 1/8 is about a 13.5 1/4. . roughly.. other charts list it at 13.7. Your takeoff seemed to _ME_ to be a tad slow.

Again, you're calculating with unknowns here twice..

But if a 8.7 1/4 is _ROUGHLY_ a 13.5, assuming all things are equal..

a 3500 pound vehicle that does a 13.5 in a 1/4 has roughly 285hp to the wheels, while a 13.7 is roughly 273hp to the wheels.

I doubt this really accurate, but possibly in the same ballfield. I used 2 charts to translate your 8.7 to 13.5 or 13.7.. and then there's all kinds of calculators that translate ET time + weight to power.

High 12's, low, low 13's. HP and this is a guess should put you around 312-316. Your 60' should be at least 2.0 w the Nitto's. Hooking up is the key.

 

Fairly close w/ the charts that translate 1/8 to 1/4 and 1/4 + weight to HP.

Now this guy should dyno, AND run a few 1/4 passes so we can see the truth.

 

I just watched the video. You need to put some more heat in the Nitto's. I haven't run the Nitto's but alot of GN guys do. The way I do it but these are slicks is to pull through the water box and turn them over in 1st gear, then pull up some to get out of the water box. Then I pull the emergency brake and get them going in 2nd gear as soon as I hear them grab good I let the emergency brake loose and let them smoke for another 20 or so feet.Everybody does it a little different.

 

With the 2.2 60 ft I think is what is killing me. The track was in bad shape if you ask me. It made 318/326 last time it dynoed but with the centri blower the power curve is'nt there down low. Also last time it dynoed my spark was being blown out and would not rev past 5200rpm. There is another v6 that made276 rwhp but is a manual trans and he ran an 8.6 at 83mph with a 1.8 60ft. I think it could run some 12's if it hooks.
I'm going with a 2800tci stall and some 4.10 gears pretty soon...and some decent tires.
It ran 8.49 at 85 or 86mph three weeks ago with a 2.1 60ft.

What gets me is the mph is good for low 8's high 7's with the v6 mustang and similar mods. Hell one guy just ran a 7.9 with 88mph and a vortech through an auto in a v6 mustang with a 1.9 60ft.

vaughn, is that you i talked to at the carwash in radford...the one by the track?

I think I might be draging water out on the track. That was with 14psi of tire pressure.

 

I have not been to the Shelor track for several months. What was I driving? With the auto you should really be killing him on e.t. but your mph should be down comparing equal hp in both cars. Nittos are a good tire you just need to get some more heat in them. It's makes all the difference at least w/ slicks. It could mean loosing 3 tenths easily in your 60'.

If you are in the box you could easily be dragging the water out. Try going around the box and back into the shallow part (not going into the dip) and get them a little moist and then do the burnout. Make sure you have a little on the tire but not soaked. This is what I would try and really put the heat in the tire. You need to get them sticky.
