Default D16zc Conversion

A buddy of mine suggested doing a ZC conversion on my D16y8 before I throw a turbo in it.
What am I looking at parts wise to make this happen?
Just so I can have an idea of the kind of work i'll need to put in

a ZC conversion on your Y8?

Pointless, you'd either be putting a Z6 head on, a D16A6 head on(lose vtec), or trying to put a DOHC ZC head on it, which won't work.

Tell your friend to shut his mouth.

Stang is right, your buddy is a moron but a DOHC ZC head on a SOHC block has been done before (twice that I know of) but it is largely pointless. IMO shim your stock oil pump before you boost it b/c, from what I've seen, that's the main mode of failure for Y8's.

I'm thinking he's talking about zc pistons; to change the compression ratio

Edit: you should look into a set of suzuki vitara pistons. Cheap, strong, same bore, low compression....

cool, thanks for the heads up...no point in wasting the money then. I'm very new to this whole thing, and having 3 friends who are mechanics and tuners and having them tell me 3 different things, confusing as fuck. I'll probably just end up getting the apexi vafc controller like I originally planned.

i know, im not saying they're both. Correction, 2 are mechanics and 1 is a tuner. Apparently not a good one though if he thought that the conversion was an ok idea as well.

Don't wast money on apexi vafc controller. Get your ecu chipped and tuned. Those things are garbage.
