Porsche Delivers 22,518 Panameras in First Year on the Market
http://www.autoblog.com/2010/09/12/t...r-o/#continued
Here's some geographical numbers they shared with us:
USA 6,188 (with 890 in Los Angeles and 760 in New York)
Germany 2,530 (Munich had 196)
Hong Kong 300
Tokyo 223
Shanghai 188
Dubai 285
Moscow 203
Some model numbers they shared
9,394 Panamera 4S
6,171 Panamera Turbo
4,563 Panamera S
2,390 Panamera 6 cylinder (introduced a few weeks ago, they don't give an exact date)
So far, the most popular colors for the Gran Turismo have been basalt black metallic, carrara white and carbon grey metallic.
Despite majority of the people here who choose to speak about it not liking this car very much(I'm one of them), there appears to be quite a few people with a little extra cash who do and this car probably isn't going away anytime soon.

They look better in person than in pictures. When you consider their competition, they have a lot more appeal. If I was a rich guy and needed practical car for commuting, it would be a contender.

I'm in no position to be buying one but put in a situation where I had to pick something with 4 doors, that hauled people and a little cargo, and it HAD to be a porsche.... I'd go with a Cayenne turbo. $30k cheaper then the Panamera, same power, and not much slower.

all this says to me is that there are a lot of people with way too much money, and no taste in vehicles

it's a porsche sedan, of course it will sell.
a lot of people who buy porsches only do so because they are porsches- they can't afford a ferrari/lambo/aston martin but they just have to have something that says 'look at me'. the cayenne is probably the stupidest car in the universe- but they are ALL OVER THE PLACE. it is no surprise to me at all that these cars are becoming popular.

I've seen 3 on the road up in NoVa. Definitely an odd car, but if you have $100K to spend on a sedan and value exclusivity, why not?
