Moving to the Langley and Got Some Questions
Just curious, how much people spend out here for utilities and stuff. Military, trying to stay under my housing cap and trying to get an idea how much I can spend for rent, while leave me enough to cover utilities (water, electricity, trash, etc). Been out of the states the last 4 yrs, and never been in the east coast so pretty clueless about this stuff.

Look on www.roommates.com and craigslist. The type of housing and location will determine the cost of rent and utilities.

Almost $1400 to play with. I'm in Langley so looking at the surrounding area. Everybody so far as been telling me to look for a place out in York but most of the place out there are expensive ($1300-1800). I'm shooting for $1-1.1k for rent and then use whatevers left for utilities.

Newport news isnt that bad but with all the military around here alot of places rise up the rent just because they know what we get a month for housing and stuff.

Newport News can be nice. I live a rock-skip away from York, and about a 15-ish minute drive from LAFB. It was previously known to be a pretty bad complex, but since has been raising the standards. After utilities and rent we(3 of us) only pay $825~. ($600 rent, then water, elec, and internet.)
You can find a bunch of good deals around the area, and still be close to the better neighborhoods around here. I'd recommend that you try York Co., Grafton Co., Poqouson, or Newport News. (:

Oyster Point Place, it has a breed restriction, but no one follows it. Half the people here don't pay the pet fee. And half have pitbulls. (I being one of them. lol). They're really linient.
