97 civic z6 swap
Have a 97 civic with a d16z6. I did two things in the same day. Lost the key and broke my dizzy.
Y7 dizzy. Running. So instead of putting another y7 dizzy I attempted to swinch my internals into a z6 house. Failed. So now I z6 dizzy and rewired the connection. I have double and tripled checked my wireing...no spark. I have went through three diffrent dizzy and I have no spark....so now to the key..I took my ignition out and have to turn the motor over with a flat head. My key cylinder is on the way. But for now I simply removed the whole assembly. I need to know what can be my promblem...I feel like I can't buy 3 bad dizzys. So any advise would be awsome. Any trial and erra or test I should attempt...I would even pay someone to come out and get me running.thanks in advance. Please keep dumb remarks to urself.I am using a obd2 harness.

either the dizzy wiring...plugs...maybe ecu? I assume your using a conversion harness with a p28? make sure the ecu is plugged in good.

Re: 97 civic z6 swap
The starter circuit has nothing to do with the ECU circuit and many other circuits. You can physically remove the ECU from the car and the engine will still crank. I've done that before when I didn't remember to plug the ECU back in, and wondered why the engine would just crank and crank and crank.. So it's likely that whatever you're talking about with the ignition stuff (I don't really understand) is not powering all of the circuits that you need to run the engine.

Re: 97 civic z6 swap
So you had 3 bad distributors? Or you just thought they were bad because the ignition was still messed up when you tried the other ones?
If you use the OBD2 ECU that you have now, the tuning will be slightly off but maybe not enough to worry about. However, you will need to add an extra O2 sensor if you don't already have 2 in the system right now. The OBD2 ECU will look for 2 O2 sensors, and the OBD1 will only look for 1. If you want to do any tuning in the future, you'll need the OBD1 ECU because the OBD2 can't be chipped (so it isn't able to be tuned).

yeah i had three bad dizzys...i have looked into the si harness which would give me a vtec plug..and a jumper harness...i will proably spend round 175 dollars for both and i found a new z6 dizzy for 100 dollars...then i found a jumper harness for the dizzy to make it go from obd2 to obd1...so ruffly 350 dollars and i will b good...this has been a pain. but i have learned alot...gotta love ur d series...thanks fabrik8
