3.73 or 4.10's in third generation camaro
Hello everybody, I have been in the process of a 1985 Camaro Z28 build. It has a late 60's carbureted 350 swap in it. Mods include; comp cams 270h, comp cams valvetrain, MSD 6al, MSD distributor, Holley 600, and performer intake. It has 333882 Heads. It has a stock 700r4 and rear end(I think 3.23 with lim. slip). Has 270/60/15 in the back and 205/60/15 in the front. Wondering what you guys would recommend for a ring and pinion set. I'm considering 4.10's from Richmond. But I don't want those to have me shifting too often and hurt my 1/4 time. This car is mostly street driven..
A little off topic. Also looking to go to solid motor mounts, will these do?

Or is there a second piece I need to buy with these?
Thanks in advance for the replies.

4.10s if you drive around the city and don't mind shifting.
3.73s if you drive a lot around on the highway and hate shifting. Most that go with 3.73 wish they went to 4.10.
Richmond gears are not top of the line, but will work. Keep a keen eye on fluid level and change it out after an initial break in period as there will ultimately be some shavings from machining and initial use. Plan to do a transmission flush ahead of time.
Solid motor mounts will bring in a helluva lot of extra vibration. Consider poly mounts instead for comfort.

I'd rephrase just from my Mustang day....
3.73s with the old 5.0s was a great daily without a lot of issues but the 4.10s would be hellish daily
You could daily 4.10s with the 4.6s but 1st became useless esp. if it rained
That being said, if this is more of a daily, I'd go 3.73. More track 4.10s but you do run the chance on having to shift right before the line

Thanks for the replies. I actually would like the shake in the car that comes with solid mounts. I was just wondering if I could use those or needed the clamshell style. And the car is driven 3 days a week or so and is mostly back roads and the occasional highway trip. If not Richmond what should I go with? Have you heard of any negatives against say jegs or summit brand? I normally would try and avoid them on such a vital component.

GMPP makes a decent set of gears for the 10-bolt. A 270/60/15 is damn near a 28" tire. Because of the tire height I'd go with the 4.10's. With OD from the 700R4 you'll be fine on the street and you will most definitely not have to shift out of 3rd gear at the track given your mods.

3.73. The 4.10 would SUCK for DDing, especially mated to the 700R4 and with that mild build. Quick hand calc, with a .70 4th, cruising at 60mph you'd be at 2100rpm with the 4.10, 1900rpm with the 3.73.

Thanks for the replies. I am leaning towards the 4.10. However, I have not completely made up my mind. Some time in the future (and I mean a year or so) I want to go with smaller chamber aluminum heads. So i'm factoring that in a bit to the overall power of the build. And I will have to look into those yukon gears. I havent seen them.
