Carb Expert Needed in Va Beach
Going out on a limb here but would love to give cash for someone to come out today and get my rust bucket running. I have tried everything that I know of it's time to let someone who has more than 1 year playing with the carbed vehicles do it right.
Engine: Ford 390, w/ 25-55PSI on fresh 40W oil
Carb: New Edelbrock 750 w/ manual choke
Exhaust: big unknown headers and straight pipes, definitely NOT obstructed
Plugs/Wires/Battery/Starter - new
Coil: MSD Blaster 2, verified works
Dizzy: Mallory
Tried so far:
- tank drained and refilled with fresh fuel
- fuel lines cleaned
- new mechanical fuel pump
- new inline fuel filter
- checked and replaced all vacuum connections and hoses
- played with choke and the A/F screws to no avail
I can get it to start and run as long as my foot is lightly on the gas but as soon as I am off it drops rpm's too low to sustain the idle and dies.
I am off of Kempsville/Centerville and I would love (plus pay) you longtime if you get it running.
UPDATE: solved and fixed, intermittent bad coil and dragging starter gear.

Re: Carb Expert Needed in Va Beach
I would naturally but it is brand new out of the box. Kinda of like that scene in Super Troopers "I can't rebuild it(pull over) any further, man".
