Master Clutch Leak
Anyone have any prior experience in how to resolve a problem with a master clutch leak, the master cylinder. I went to a Honda dealership and they said I have a master clutch leak and it would cost about $300 to fix
. So I have to keep putting brake fluid in my clutch fuild to keep it from dropping. Anyone know a good place to fix it or better yet any way I can do it myself? Just wondering if anyone knows what to do that had a problem similar to mine. Oh yea, I own a 98 honda prelude if that helps any.

damn 300 beans, what the hell, dealerships sure do know how to rip a motherfucker off, it doesnt take that long to do the job,if you want a whole lot cheaper price ill install it for 100 bucks, you get the part, ive done several of them.....
Can you explain what is really going on with the leak and how to fix it? I really have no idea what or where the leak is at, so you are saying you have to replace the whole piece?

yes, you have to replace the whole master cylinder unit if it is bad, if you dont see fluid coming from above your clutch pedal, leaking inside the car on the firewall/floorboard, or coming out by the reservoior hose in the engine bay then it prolly isnt the master cylinder, and the master cylinder is what pushes the fluid to the slave cylinder which in turn moves your throwout fork...check out your slave cylinder if you dont see your master cylinder leaking, what is going on in the first place?.....did you just go to the dealership and they said you need a new master cylinder, what made you go there and ask.........
i just replaced mine... i tell you what. that one bolt on the top left behind the clutch pedal is a mother fucking bitch to get to! if you dont have small hands and can't work well in cramped places i'd get someone else to do it. I got so frustrated, but it eventually got done.
Its 100 bux for the assembly.. you have to replace it. Its basically pointless to try and "fix" it cuse you can't. It normally will leak inside your firewall up on the top left where you see the pump going through the firewall above the clutch. You'll see the dot3/4 fluid leaking down the firewall.

Remove the old one, bench bleed the new one, install, bleed the sytem, and you're set.
I'm replacing all the clutch hydraulics this weekend if the f'in parts get here in time (should). I purchased the master and slave cylinder for ~60USD and a SS hose that runs from the master to the slave for ~18USD.
