Default My car won't start.

I have a 1989 Iroc-Z Camaro with a 350, and atleast once a day when i try to start it nothing happends. In order to get it to start again, i have to disconnect the battery for 10 minutes. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be? My guess is that there might be a relay somewhere between the ignition and the solonoid on the starter, and when it heats up the switch doesnt make contact. Its only a guess though, and im not even sure if there is a relay there or not.

I also had to replace the ignition cylinder recently because of problems with the VATS system, i don't think that it's related though.

you know thinking about it , it kinda sounds like the terminal on your batter is bad, like it s not connecting with the rest of your battery, you know what i'm saying

My prelude used to do that.. I believe it was just worn out rusted nasty ass wires.. Try replacing the wires from batt to fusebox, and batt to tranny ground

I'd pull in to get gas, and have to sit around for 5-10 minutes wiggling the wires around..

Also if the batt is old, get one of those battery terminal cleaners that are basically brillow pads and you stick it ontop of the terminal and spin..

Yeah, it doesn't crank or make any noises. The interior lights and stereo will still work though.

Yeah I would put my money on dirty/bad connections or wires. Stereos and lighting doesnt take much power at all to run, once you go to crank it, you need a solid connection to pull that much power.

Manual? Does the clutch need to be down for it to start?
