Local alternator shop that will re-build my alternator to higher output?
Im looking for a shop in the dc,va,md area to rebuild my alternator to higher output. I looked in the yellow pages and all they had was ur typical shops. Im guessing i need shop that specializes in alternators?

If you find such a place, I wouldn't necessarily trust it. You should contact Stinger. You'll have to pay a few hundred bucks for it, but they will build it to whatever amperage you desire. You may have to do some research on your car though. They require strict technical specs on the stock alternator. They do their best to make it fit like stock, while producing the desired result. It's definitely your best bet; they're the only credible company in that industry that I am aware of. If you need to cut costs, don't purchase a pretty unit. Just get the basic finish with the technical specs you require.

Have you searched for a aftermarket alternator that puts out a higher output? I dunno what car/truck/suv you drive but im guessing you cruise with a huge ass voltage demand for your stereo.

and I heard u can get them rebuilt at a local shop for like 80-150$.
I was guessing the same thing; that's why I recommended Stinger. They are well-known for exactly that product, and competition is almost non-existant. If he needs them to build a high output alternator for them, now's the time (off-season for bass-offs).
easternjane <- if you do go with them, let me know how your experience goes. I will eventually have a similar interest,

There is a place off RT28 near Manassas that does it. Artie eletric I believe. They used some heavy duty internals from GM parts to up the amperage.
