does anyone know if you have to pay the 3% VA sales tax on a vehicle purchased outside of the state? i bought my bike in delaware (they have no sales tax) and i was wondering if i was going to have to pull an extra 64.50 outta my ass. thanks in advance!

 

i have no idea for sure, but logically i would say no. If the purchase was not made in the state of virginia i don't see why virginia law would be applicable.

 

ditto, i dont think you're gonna get gyped on anything. the only thing that would apply for VA is the registration and crap that you have to settle with the DMV. you should be straight.

yes you will pay sales tax when you register at the DMV. I bought my truck in Tennessee, when I went to the DMV in Chesapeake, $750 in sales tax.

 

I just paid $630 in tax for my WRX from Maryland a few weeks ago, so yes.. I didn't even think about that either, so I got a rude surprise when I went to register it.. Little bit of unexpected ass pain, I should have seen it coming though..

once you goto register it in VA you gonna have to pay the tax on the bike for what you purchased it for in delware...
