Integra won't rev over 2500..
Hello,
I swear the integra we have been working on is possessed by something evil. Finally we found that it was a dead ECU causing the engine not to turn over. now the engine starts up fine, but if it is in neutral and you punch the gas it stops at 2500 rpm. While driving and in gear, the exact same thing happens, when it hits 2500rpm it stops... won't rev any higher. Anyone have any idea what this new problem is.. i have heard it might be a sensor??
Thanks in advance!!!

Re: Integra won't rev over 2500..
timing is either WAY OFF, or you might have the throttle position sensor and either the iac valve or another sensor mixed up, two of the sensors on the car have the same plug and i did the same thing a while ago, mixed them up, flashed a code and it wouldnt rev passed like 3k rpm or so.....

Re: Integra won't rev over 2500..
Update... my mechanic made a good point.. we haven't touched the engine and before this happened we never had the rev issue. So unless the battery being hooked up backwards caused a sensor to fry, he is thinking it is the ECU. The engine light stays on when the car is running and the light on the ECU stays solid... doesn't blink a code just stays solid. Does this mean the ECU is bad?
Thanks again for all the input!

Re: Integra won't rev over 2500..
LOL.. you must not have read my other thread about the car dying in the first place. For the record, I didn't hook anything up backwards. My friend (who is a certified mechanic and whos identity i'll keep anonymous) hooked the battery up backwards. In his defense, it is an old battery that is not labeled clear at all. LOL. Needless to say, the problem has been solved. That battery stunt fried the orginal ECU. The second ECU we were given was faulty and it was the reason it was only revving to 2500 rpm. The minute we put another ECU in it ran fine.. nice and strong. Thank you everyone for all the help.. we were just about to start checking sensors when we got the 3rd ECU to try and we were lucky!
