What it will be is, when you get inspected, first thing they do is rip off the old sticker. Then they will slap on a rejection. With a rejection you can only drive it home, and then back to get it inspected. So if they catch you driving it regularly, then they will ticket you.

Solution: Get a ride or drive another vehicle there, ask questions about laws (bumper height, suspension mods, exhaust pipes, tint, etc), get them answered, then go home safely.
Police officers are people, too. There are some bad ones among the majority of good ones. These officers volunteered as they are car enthusiasts, to help answer questions that people may have.
