Default GTI's and Jetta's

I recently have looked into getting a 20th ann. GTI but have somewhat been turned off by the bad reports of them.....but i'm back in the hhunt again, i relaly like their styling......what are some others opinions on the reliability of them?

Never had one problem with my '03 1.8t GTI. Haven't had any problems with my R32 either. If you get a 20ae you should be good. I think most of the problems of the mk4 chasis were worked out by the time they because available. What are you looking to do with the car?

Well besides window regulators, which was fixed for free, I never had any problems with mine. Well, I did have the vacuum hose to the fpr decay. Took me a little while to figure out, but it cost me like $3 to fix. Interiors tend to peel in some spots. Not really a reliability issue though. Wait for the mk5s to come out. The mk4s will be stupid cheap. Plus you can act all condescending to the mk5 owners.

<- still haven't had any problems with my '03 1.8T GTI. I love it. It's my favorite car ever, and I've owned a total of 9 VW's so far.

Wiper motor was faulty when I bought my 2003 TDI. Also a motor mount and clutch would not take 50K miles of an extra 55 WTQ and 20 whp from a Upsolute chip.

I'm not a 100% certain but around a 15.5 maybe as high as a 16.2

Eh, I'd say low 15.. I don't know exactly, but even as heavy as a 1.8T Jetta is.. you should still be running closer to a 14 stock than a 16. My GTI was capable of 14 second passes bone stock.

Really? I wouldn't expect more than a low 15 from a bone stock 02 Jetta. And thats if you are driving your ass off and get a nice launch.
