Ticking Noise in engine
Hey, I have a 93 GSR that had the engine just rebuilt. Around 940 miles from the time it was rebuilt it developed a ticking sound which has gotten louder over the last 40 miles. I changed the oil and filter at 500 miles and was getting ready to do it again at 1000. Any ideas on what it could be? People said check the valve clearance and I did that to the best of my ability but I still couldn't figure it out. It is a modified engine though. The pistons are JE .030 oversided and possibly domed up a little more. The head and valves are all stock. It doesn't sound like it is coming from every cylinder but only from like the top left. Any help on how to check the clearance would be good so I know that I didn't do it wrong as well. Anyone know the exact clearance for the 93 GSR (B17A1)?

As far as valve clearances, search around on the web there's dozens of tutorials on how to do that. Ticking sounds like it could maybe be piston slap, which happens sometimes with aftermarket pistons.
Pennzoil 10W-30 is in it now, when I change the oil the time after this I am using Mobile 1 fully synthetic. It has the same sound when you hit the gas, let off the gas, or whatever. It's not really too loud, you can hardly hear it in the car with JUST the heater running wide open.
