20V head on AEG
Anyone seen/done a VW 2L AEG motor with a 20v AEB head on it? I'm going to need custom pistons and need to find someone who has had a set made.

Re: 20V head on AEG
do what!?!?!?
why would you go to an aeg bottom end?
just use the crank and the 1.8t block...
get a set of wiseco stroker pistons for the 20v set at 81mm and a set of pauter 144mm rods and call it a day...
no need to try and mod the block to accept the 20v head... :rolls eyes:
Edit:::
the aeg crank is a cast crank, so i would advise you run a crank girdle, because they are known to fracture under massive load...
if you want go to eiptuning.com and buy one of the stroker cranks they have... they are forged units just like the stock 1.8t crank

Re: 20V head on AEG
I have an aeg currently. I'm looking at putting the 20v head on it.
Probably do a forged crank and pistons while I'm at it. The heads are a direct swap.
Only thing is that the pistons need an extra relief in them for the center valve. That would leave me with around 8.1:1 compression. I could mill the head and get up to around 10:1 for a pretty nice all motor setup, or run around 12psi forced induction. Just kind of playing with the idea.
I hear 1.8t swaps are disasters due to harness issues. Not to mention mine is the older
throttle by cable setup rather than throttle by wire for the 1.8t.

Re: 20V head on AEG
So go for an older Passat 1.8T setup ( non drive-by-wire ) . There is a company in the UK that is now making harnesses and ECU's for the 1.8T swaps into just about anything and it's all plug and play . Havent heard of swapping into mkIVs yet ( dont know if it would make a whole lotta sense ) but that is the way to go ! Or just sell the car and buy a 1.8T . ( or better yet , a VR6 .... they just sound better !! ) .
Wait ... if you are running an AEG , why swap to a 20V head ??? Just turbo the bastard and call it that ! The gains between the different heads should be minimal when you consider the price of doing it .
