Give us the time for research and development like everyone else has had for years and we'll show everyone how reliable the 1.8T powerplant can actually be with 500+ whp... There still hasn't been hardly any research and development on these motors like most other 'tuner cars' have... and that puts us at a big disadvantage but you're right--that's an amazing accomplishment!

I just hope people don't give up on the 1.8T and move on to newer generation motors to start working on.. I think the 2.0T is going to be even further "too smart for its own good"

With the FSI technology the 2.0t will probably see bigger gains and way more potential. I'm actually excited to see what happens.

The 2.0t is gonna be a BEAST....but reguardless, I am kinda biast on the situation seeing that I own a VW, but im putting down a little under 400whp w/the boost turned up, and im on stock internals, If I didnt get such a good deal on the setup that Im running now, I would have paid close to 5 grand for everything, which really isint that bad seeing that I could go WAY faster..... and its still my daily driver (i keep the boost at like 18-20psi around town, somewhere in the range of 330-360whp.....)

Wrx motors wont handle 500hp daily. Atleast not on pump. STi motors will barely do that.

Im going to say that engine wise, the 1.8t is stronger even with less discplacement than the ej207 in the wrx.

This is a realisitic wake up call for those of you who think the WRX motor is bulletproof. Its strong, but when matched against its peers ( 4g63, 1.8T, SR20,) its the weakest of the bunch by atleast 20%.

A WRX has a lot of Nissan's parts in it. GLI, I don't know, hell I thought it was a fancy Jetta, but the thing that is notorious with VW is it loves to break and when it does it rapes you in the pocket. I say out of what you suggested, if you have enough $ get the WRX, if not check out the Spec, or hell maybe even the (Neon) with the big wing

So now a Spec V > 1.8T?

Where have I been? I was unaware of the fact that those cars were even worth their weight.
