Default tacoma tick

my 96 tacoma with a 2RZ has a small tick , not all the time but not in a pattern either. Is it possible for a hydraulic lift to collapse while the motor is running? the truck sat for about 8 month during the susp. being built. any ideas from the toyota guys?

is it when it's cold? does it go away when it gets warm? is it coming from the enigine? top or lower half? are you absolutely sure it's not coming from the powersteering unit (if it's equipped with it)?

it does it hot or cold, its gotta be in the top end and Ill check the power steering pump the pulley was a little loose when we put the crank seal in. Ill check it today.

I put a oil stabilizer in it yesterday and drove it 60-70 miles and it seems like the tick has got worse. So, Im pretty sure it isnt the power steering.
and I changed the oil about 100 miles ago.

well Im going to try a thicker oil, im running valvoline 10W30
so i should try a 10W40 or a 20W50? and does max life really help?
I hope it works becuase I have already checked on prices for engines.
sounds like a wrist pin or something in the valves, I just dont get it.
