Ahhhh.....................a profit?
I don't know of anyone who races WERA (Expert or Novice) that turns a profit for the year so you'd def be correct.
But with contigency money and money for placing there is def a way to get some of that money back. Not all, but some of it.
But I consider the money spent on a race weekend as gone..............so if I make 50 bucks for coming in 3rd and get a little trophy; I'll consider that "making money"!

This is what I do for fun...............yes, eventually I do plan on being good enough to get enough contingency money and place money to help out in the cost; at 800 - 1k a weekend it's getting a bit pricey.
I plan on staying in the Navy till they kick me out; and if I stay at E-6 for the rest of my career that will be 9 more years.
I then plan on retiring near a casino and playing hold em for an extra income (no joke here). I don't plan on working another job in my life after I retire.
no you didn't imply it at all, you flat out stated it...
the question was posed, what is your profession?
you and v8 hunter both answered racing motorcycles
i said i don't think either of you are professional road racers and don't make money doing it, you just do it for fun
you said, after this year i won't be able to say that, stating that after this season you will be a professional road racer and will make money by racing, in other words bring in more from sponsorship and prize money than you spend to do it
