It'll be a while before it's done...I haven't had any time to put into it. I've got all of the parts, but need to measure for frame mounts to be welded in for the motor and monoshock. I think that's going to be the biggest challenge, once the mounts are worked out I just need to paint, assemble, and wire. Should be fun! I'll post some pics when I make a bit more progress.

You still plan on selling the gs octane? Sold mine last year, finally found and sv650s '04 and picking it up this weekend. wasn't a bad price 4k with 2.5k miles. Oh, btw, i saw some daytona's at d&d, two of them, brand spanking new. didn't get a chance to stop by so not sure if they are spoken for.

Decided to hang onto the GS until the Yamaha is done. I was waffling back and forth between buying a Triumph or building another bike and decided I'd rather not have a bike payment and it would be cool to do another project bike.

I was at D&D last week to demo the '06 Speed Triple for a story, but they didn't have any 675's in the showroom. The first few coming in are spoken for, but Bryan said he was pretty sure they were going to get a few more. Unfortunately he can't choose colors - he gets what he gets. I'm still hoping he can get a 675 demo bike though!! Anyhow, he did have a few of the big Daytonas in there last week, but I haven't seen the 675 in person yet.

 

hey octane, lemme know whenever you want some help getting that fz1 motor lined up. i'm curious as to how much mods are going to need to be done, especially to keep it clean looking. do you have all the cooling system stuff for it too? might be handy to mock all that up at the same time.

 

Haven't located the cooling system yet, that and gauges are the last large purchases I need to make. Do you know offhand if an R1 radiator, fan, and/or gauges will work with the FZ motor? Nobody I've talked to can seem to confirm it - but I did find out the R1 header wouldn't work. There's plenty of room in the XS frame (For shits and giggles I tried to cram the FZ motor into that spare GS500 frame! It could work, but not without some serious frame mods) and eyeballing it I think the rear mount may even work with just some spacers. The rest is going to need to be fab'd though. My biggest concern right now is fitting the header tubes around the frame down tubes without any major headaches. I ordered a Yosh header for the FZ motor (another killer ebay deal!), which should arrive this week, so hopefully this weekend I can find some time to mock it up and see where I'm at. Any time you feel like taking a ride out to Portsmouth just give me a call!! You can have that GS frame and I'd love a hand measuring the rest of this stuff up.
