would you get an exotic car?
Instead of buying another car last year, I took a year off from work. That made me happy. Before that, spent a month in Thailand and had the absolute best time of my life. For me, cars are not a high priority and I've found other ways to spend my hard earned money. Now there is less disposable income since I took a 30 month contract working for the gov't instead of working private sector (which would have paid at least $50k/yr more). Love my new job and feel that I'm making a positive impact in the community.
Obviously, I'm not gonna try to persuade someone not to purchase something with their own money. For me, I can not justify at this time spending more than a year's salary on a car because my disposable income at the moment isn't what it used to be. That Maserati with the Tubi exhaust that I was looking to buy made my weiner dance and my wallet cry.

I'm not so much referring to that type of lifestyle though.. I'm talking about being in a position where you aren't making a sacrifice for a car, but where you can easily afford it.
If you could comfortably take a year off from work, travel the world, buy expensive cars, own your own expensive home, etc.. would you be interested in that Masterati again?
I've always been into cars to a point nearing obsession. I remember, around the age of 12, telling a friend that one day I'd own a Ferrari. He laughed at me saying "No you won't". Why not? Like others have said, with motivation anything is possible. I would never put the stability of my family at risk for a car but all will be taken care of when I decide that its time. Fortunately, as a kid I got some exposure to exotics and the feeling I got being around them has been engraved on my soul, its as if I can't help it.
If, as a condition of sale, I was not aloud to tell anyone that I'd got an exotic or be seen in one, I'd still get it. The only problem I'd have would be not being able to share it with my friends.

damn...honestly this is a very fucking tough decision.
Its obvious the best bet would be to mod a exotic. But to choose between a stock exotic or a car modded out to beat a exotic...thats tough.
I for one love exotic cars and have had the chance to drive a few ferraris. I have always loved exotics but always thought ahh whats the point?? I can mod the shit out of a lesser car to out perform the exotic. But it still will never be the same. You have to drive an exotic and you will understand. Its not the same thing. The way the car feels, the sounds of the car and how it looks. There is also the mass sex appeal that you get from the genral public vs a modded car..but that gets old quick and that why I dont personally buy cars.
But on the other hand building a lesser car to your exact discriminating standards is sweet too. Its basically a extension of your personailty and is a form of expression. Unlike an exotic that someone else built and your just scooping it off the showroom. I love modding cars....its one of th emost fun aspects of this hobby so this is why this is such a hard decision.
I think in teh end if I had the money to blow I would choose the lesser car and mod the shit out of it. But damn it would never give you teh sensation or experience of lets say driving a enzo...
Oh and to concur with ritz f40 fuckin owns f50 but enzo owns all

A few years ago, I was in line to put a down payment for a pre-order of a blue Lotus Elise before they hit the States, but I didn't fit in it comfortably (knees on sides of steering wheel). Riding in Terry's was fun, but reminded me of how small they were. For me, an exotic car is about the looks, not just the performance. Performance can be gained by extensively modding a stock car.
The Saturn Sky with a nice turbo on it might be nice. Not as nice as an exotic, but wouldn't be afraid to put some miles on it. I really like the look of that car, even though it's a Saturn. Something about those rear scoops, Corvette-like sides, and equipped with coilovers stock is pretty damn cool. Richmond area Saturn dealers aren't taking pre-orders, which is absolute crap. Might wait for the second year and see the Saturn Sky Red Line (like the Opel GT) numbers.
