Fuel pump not activating ...
My bike's been apart for a couple moths because i got a paint job. Now when I put the thing together the lights turn on, the tailights work but I don't hear the fuel pump activate when I turn the switch in the ON position. Any clues. I haven't tried to start it yet because it's in my house but I know I used to always hear the fuel pump kick in. I checked all battery leads and harness connections. I'm not mistaken in saying that I did originally hear the fuel pump actually turn on when the ON switch was engauged, right? Thanks for any help! I ride and '02 F4i.

Re: Fuel pump not activating ...
ok... only because i've seen this happen ALOT.....
is the headlight connected and mounted? there's a tip sensor mounted on the headlight, it has to be connected, and the headlight has to be right way up for it to kick the fuel pump on. it's a safety thing, so the bike won't stay running if it falls over.
other than that.... check the fuse... and check the electrical connection at the pump, i've seen alot of painters get paint in the connector, causing a bad connection.

Re: Fuel pump not activating ...
i figured that's what it was. a friend of mine spend 10 hrs trying to get his g/f's 600rr to start.. then he finally called me.
i walked up to the bike, flipped the headlight over (it wasn't mounted, just plugged in) and fired the bike.
should have seen the look on his face.
