looking for anyone who works for the city of chesapeake city inspections office or can link me to the correct law pages and ordinances, i need some regulations and laws on doing personal bodywork and paint and the damn website sucks for trying to find anything on this specific topic. i was visited by the city inspector today because of the punk ass neighbor thinking i was running a business and im not. i was working on my own car and a few things for a friend. he was a very cool inspector and let me off with a warning cause he could see that i do small paint work and bodywork out there. very cool of him to let me go with the warning cause im sure he could have sited me. i was under the impression that bodywork is completely legal but painting more than a certain amount a day without being a registered shop is not. i need some specific guidelines and rules so i can at least do bodywork out there and then go to a shop with a booth and spray my car and some parts. any help would be appreciated from anyone , thanks.
Rick, do you actually want to talk to someone? My old neighbor is a Ches city inspector, and I helped him out with a few EMS situations in the past. I might be able to get you a phone number. I'm not sure, but if you want, I'll give it a shot, or at least see if he knows the codes for that.
