Dealer or Not?
SubscribeI'm getting my license here soon and I really want to get back on a bike and i wanna move on to riding street too. I'm pretty set on the general kind of bike i want I'm just not sure if i should buy a newer one from a dealer so i can make payments or save/get a loan and buy a used bike from private seller or something like that?
get a loan from your bank on a used bike. then you can make payments, and you'll save money on the bike ('specially since all the dealers 'round here are jacking prices thru the roof)
Thats what i was thinking, i turn 18 this thursday so im gonna get my bank account straight and maybe pick up a bike closer to the end of the year.
not a bad idea... if you pick up a bit in the off season, you'll find MUCH better deals. everyone and thier brother is trying to get a bike this time of year.

Not to mention the dealers are really slow then and you can even get a new/leftover 2006 around that time for a great deal. That is personally what I'd do if I was in the market for another bike (which I might be by then).Originally Posted by skr00zloose

Yea i planned on picking something up in maybe november when i can get my permet(do i have to get a permet after im 18 or is it 19) and ride that around the neighborhood and get used to things when i get my license.
buy a cheap mechanically sound beater and ride that around for a while. You won't have to get full coverage and you can pick up gs500's and older ex250/500's and older 600's for under $2k if you look around a bit. Prices are stupid right now for just about everything
I'm deffinitly not going to be in the market officially untill late this year. I've actually been in the "i want a bike" market since i was in about 8th grade
