No its not. Breakaway meaning once you get a tire to its edge of adhesion you will know exactly when you will start sliding. Either under lateral load or overpowering them. A car with a tire that had predictable breakaway is far safer then anything with a soft cushy sidewall that likes to wrap and unwind under loads and will snap the car back and forth in different directions if you are asking too much of it.

Again, there IS a performance gain to stretched tires. If you dont understand it, you never will.

Yea, well after spending two days at VIR in a full Griggs car I had already come to the conclusion that I'm not that type of driver. I like to have control over the car, not the car over me. If I wana slide, I slide, Griggs wont allow that w/o gops of horsepower.

I'm no drifter, but if you spend one lap with me at Shenendoah you will see that I have the most tail happy FWD car I've ever seen...and I love it. I <3 oversteer. I'm happy if I'm sliding.

Basically the opposite of what we experienced with the waffles on the 96, and what I attempted to duplicate on 360?

Exactly! All that wiggling was being transferred from the sidewall to the car. If the sidewall was stiffer whether by stretching it, or by just having a lower profile/stiff tire, everything would respond cripser. You're getting it. I'm so proud.
