BTW > I'm an old ass fat guy and I still get out and ride on occasion ( when the temps drop below 80 ) . Lotsa fun , but I'm gettin too old to try the crazy shit . I gotta go to work on Mondays and busted knees and shins would RUIN me ,so I keep it mellow and just roll hang-nuthins till the cows come home .

Need not argue with stupidity. Once you try throwing a big ass bike around in the air then talk. They go where they want, there isn't really any changing once you start.

Don't argue that one sport is harder than the other . I'm sure the FMX is difficult > and extremly crazy > and takes balls of stone !! Flatland takes serious finesse and insane amounts of balance . It's an art and isn't something you just pick up by tossing your bike into a foam pit . These guys are seriously talented and I just look at some of the shit they do now and realize how far the bar has been raised since I was into it . I love all forms of 'unorganized' sports but it really makes me laugh to see people bicker about which sport is better . It's like comparing apples to Buicks . Just sit back , watch , enjoy , and DO A TRICK !!

Theres no arguing here, to each his own. But to the opinion about MX copying BMX and stuff well, opinion's are like assholes and....

I do understand that flatland takes a great amount of talent, I've tried and didnt make it. But I have done my share of BMX and I have been riding MX bikes for a good period of time now. If i were to compair the two I'd give it to MX overall due to the fact of how much harder of a time I personally had on it.

With BMX my bike was light, i could do with it what i wanted and not worry about getting it back straight to land. On my dirt bike, i have to put a lot more attention to detail on everything. And the danger factor is a lot higher. With flatland, you fall too bad get back up. Sometimes even in light riding on dirt bikes you can fall and not ride again easily.

Basically, do what you like. If you wanna balance do some flatland BMX. If you wanna get crazy, get some air, and do some all around balls to the wall shit, pick up a dirt bike and find a ramp and do whatever you feel.

::Looks around room, looks at original post:: I am sorry but I can not find where I said one was better then the other, or one was harder then the other, but it seems several of you are getting bent over something I did not say. Let me say it a little more clearly, "I have not seen that many original tricks out of mountain biking or MX." Did I say I was any less impressed? No. In case you did not catch it the first time I was referencing the fact I have seen most of these tricks done first on a BMX bike. You are like one of those annoying ankle biter kids in high school who needs to pick an argument with everything to try to prove a point. Learn to interpet what was said fully before making some outlandish guess at what I meant. Why the hell would I be posting in the cycle forum if I did not think bikes where the ultimate power. I am going to clarify it for you one more time before I end this extremely repetative post, "I saw most of these tricks done on a BMX bike first" I hope you can understand what I am saying now.

now when they start building dirtbikes with single crown front suspension (so the bars can spin 360 degrees), then they'll def. be pulling bmx style tricks.
Can you imagine them doing truck drivers? If the 360's they pulled wernt not as funky as they already are just imagine a barspin thrown in there {edit: changed their to there}. Or a steep suicide no hander Morgan Wade style.

When you say that you can "play with the throttle" on a bike in the air you say it like throwing a big ass dirt bike around is easy. Have you tried it? I've done everything brought up in this thread weather it be MX, BMX, Moutian Biking or extreame scootering and so far MX has been the hardest. If you look at that video of Travis pulling the double backflip, look how high he is. His life is at risk there if you couldnt tell. I've seen people do doubles on bicycles like its nobodies business. Theres an obvious difficulty difference.

As for your "BMXer's did it first" cry. Who cares. Theres tricks you can do on bikes that you cant do on a motorcycle and the other way around. I saw backflip first on a bicycle but do it over a 100ft gap.

Nobody ever said you said this, you said that. We just argued the fact that theres a big difference between BMX and FMX. You can't simply compare the two and say blah blah one was before the other they are copying. The same guys that tricked off of pedals are the same guys tricking off of foot pegs, its the same game bro.
