Because Ford does it over and over and over. And it isn't that they "could" roll over- or explode. It's that they DID roll over and explode during pre-production testing. There was NO doubt that they would definitely kill people.

Hey! Now there's a valid point.

I'd expect that coming from you but what have I seriously done to make you say I think anything domestic is bad?

No matter. Now that:

There was no doubt the vehicles in question would roll over either, Jim just said could. We all know they rolled and the ones still on the road are still susceptible to it.

You, just like every other person, can do you're part by not buying their shoddy work. Let the morons figure out for themselves Ford can't make good vehicles. I can't believe Ford is still in business with all the deathtraps they put out.

You would think with all the people they intentionally kill and all the bad vehicles they make, some Ford would have to be on the list for most fatalities, yet they aren't. Hmmmm.

Here you go. Go ahead and browse over some of the ratings for got for their deathtraps, especially compared to the other companies. Wow, look at that, Ford won the gold for safest large car.

Ford has all of the new high-tech innovations.

I can't see how they will fail.

I'm sorry I used the word "could." I did that because any car can roll over depending on circumstances.
Did every Explorer roll over? No.
Could they roll over? Yes.

Did every Pinto blow up when rear-ended? No
Could they blow up? Yes.

Could my Cobra roll if my tire blew, I was such a dipshit that I didn't know how to control the car if that happened and then put a tire on the shoulder?
Sure could.

Was I in a jeep that spun on wet roads, put a tire in the median and flipped over 4 times at 60 miles an hour? Yes.

My point is this

1. Yes I agree that Ford produced cars that were inherently dangerous based on pre-production testing (See...I'm fucking agreeing with you).

2. Other companies did the same damn thing. Are you really that stupid to belive that every company that produces an SUV wasn't aware before production that a high center of gravity on a short wheelbase produces an inherently unstable vehicle?

3. I wholeheartly believe that a large majority of drivers don't have the 1st fucking clue what to do in case of an emergency. Most (I said most not all) rollovers are caused by driver error when presented with an emergency situation. People who can't understand hydroplaning fall into the same catagory. As I was taught at Bondurant, if your tire fails and you perform the correct recovery, there should be no reason that the SUV should flip....this was shown to us in 15 PAX Econoline Vans at 80 mph or so.

Holy Jesus that's where R&D has led them? They're doomed.

Its not Fords fault people cant remember to put their damn gas cap back on..

On most newer Fords, leaving the gas cap off will pop a check engine light for Minor Evap Leak..

It is Ford's fault however to research the money into fixing a problem that doesn't really exist.

Jesus Christ... You people find something so simple and exaggerate it into the grandest thing FoMoCo has ever developed. But this is the question: Matt and Merril... does a M coupe or a Supra come with this equipment?

Yea, I'm sure it cost Ford a shitload of money and they had to put every researcher on it to develope it..

Last I checked, the easiest way to make money is to make your customers happy and to create a damn near fool proof vehicle.. Thats pretty much what this does, eliminates an item that people are too stupid to remember and want to blame Ford for it..

You guys are acting like this was GPS, or airbags, or anything else that actually mattered as a breakthrough with a car.

It's a gas cap. Seriously. And you attempt to exxagerate the R&D resources that were used to develop this, I bet if we had the numbers in front of us we would laugh...I would be very surprised if it was less than $200,000 just to come up with it and design the prototype.
