Get a full cage if your going to be doing wheelies. You won't save plastics with a full cage. I lost my entire upper fairing this weekend at XDL after I crashed.

Frame Sliders...good if your bike tips over in a parking lot. Will save plastics and engine cases at speeds less than 10 mph.

Race Rails...will save side of frame, engine cases, and some of the plastics on the side depending on the speed...still not intended for high speed stuff, maybe 50 mph.

Full Cage...saves frame, engine cases, plastic, oil pan, etc. Designed for mostly slow speed stunting when the bike drops from 12 0'clock position.

Remember, nothing is fool proof. Alvin is a perfect example of that!!! Cages and Sliders will help, but you can still mess stuff up...especially if you are doing highway wheelies and come off. I had frame sliders on my 636 and went into a muddy ditch at 15 mph. Ripped the slider off on the left side and busted the plastic, (upper and side), broke the headlight, broke the ram air duct, and bent the upper fairing bracket. And that was only 15 mph, into a soft muddy ditch....$2000 in damage.

I would recommend the rails, sounds like your best bet because all full cages will drag in the corners. But of course they won't give you a much protection as a full cage.
