I agree water is drug from the burnout box to the start line, but why they cannot take five or ten minutes to re-prep the track with VHT and then run the tractor is beyond me.They seem to have time and resources on a Gunslingers night. I have been going to Richmond for about 16 years and the track has not changed at all. The last street night there were more cars in the staging lanes than I can remember..at $15 a car I would think I would be able to make more than one pass and at least not spin through third gear on a MT Drag Radial. I know cars breaking is not totally their fault, but if they would take time to really tech some of the cars that come in we would not have to wait 45 minute for them to clean up a oil down.

I have 4 Mustangs coming this Friday. Each of them runs EVERY friday. The track prep is there...

Johnny has turned RD around in the past 4 years more than anyone int he past 36 years. He trys and trys to make RD the place to be. Have you been to other tracks? I race ALL THE TIME. My ET's on a race day are only .005 better than a street night and that is in any of the 2 I own, and my friends other two cars. There is not a track around that can fight radial tires. Hell that is why Outer Banks doesnt even do many street things. There track is in top notch shape and they dont want any issues. Radial tires TEAR UP a track. Do you want RD to stop street nights?

The only differance this Friday verse the others is they will drag the first 200-300 feet with the tractor to try and get all the radial tire water off the track. The same amount of VHT will be laid down (to the 1/8th Mile).

I think since VMP is open it shouldnt be as packed. Should be a fun time. Stop by and say hi...

I've always had better 60 fts and ET's at Richmond vs VMP. But as both of you have said, the track goes away the later it gets in the night for those same reasons. I like Richmond's atmosphere and the way it's run. It's a real racer friendly track to me. It's always been my preference to run there.

That being said, see ya'll friday night !

I have raced Richmond literally every street night this season and I have always favored the left lane, but last street night the left lane was extreamly scarey 1/8 mile and beyond. It's probably due to a car breaking down. As for your comment about radial tires. In all honesty between richmond, NEDW and VMP what is the ONE track that makes it damn near impossible to get AROUND the water box? I run slicks, but I know it's pretty much impossible to go around the water box. Still no reason to do a burn out on street tires, maybe a quick spin on the way to the line, but that should be it. I've noticed over the past 3 or 4 street nights more and more cars break down though ; \

its definately a buncha crap that ya hafta drive thru gravel to get around the water.... i try to stay in the right lane cuz there more room to do this. water on street tires = crap. id still rather goto richmond then vmp. pay less get more runs and drive not nearly as far. works for me I may be out this friday. wait and see. i havent made any changes that affect performance. if anything itl be slower so why bother. then again it was a blast last time *g*

Fatboyee and I both live right in VMP's backyard, but we would still rather drive all the way to Richmond because it's just flat out a better managed track. It's a shame, VMP could be the nicest track on the east coast if someone in charge there cared the way Johnny does about RD.
