Drunken Ribeye at Sweetwater is the tits. Marinated in ale. If you haven't tried it, you haven't lived.

As a native washingtonian, here are my suggestions...

Italian- That's Amore in Vienna. You order oversized dishes designed for the couple to share (very pimp idea).

Maggianos is good, but its friggin huge, not very intimate.

Also, the Dolce Vita in Fairfax. If you want authentic Italian- there is no better place in NoVA. They have like 3 types of calamari, just to give an idea.

San Vito in Burke/Sprinfield area (also in South Riding). Its inexpensive and they make EVERYTHING from scratch. I know b/c my girl is a server there. She brings me home a dish after work and its fucking ridiculous.

Wanna go balls out? French restaurant in Vienna (right next to That's Amore) called La Caranad. I think I spelled it correctly. IMHO French cuisine beats the shit out of everything by far. Their duck is to die for. Not cheap, but you'll probably wish you brought your camera. Its small, intimate and delicious.

Those are my ideas.
