sarku japan sushi bar @ lynnhaven mall
If you sit up by the bar at Daruma sushi, and order ala cart items and talk to the chef about how beautiful his work is, he will sometimes start to give you things to try for free. More than one time me and friend have been given things to try after racking up a big bill and a bunch of compliments.
I don't know how much sushi you eat, but I average a $20 bill every time I go out to eat sushi and still leave a bit hungry. Spending a few extra bucks to have a full blown buffet with appetizers is good enough for me.
Sounds like you need to stick with places like Misako...
My favorite so far is Nagoyas in Chesapeake. There sushi is great and the prices are decent.
What??!?!?!!? Are you fucking kidding me?

1. You don't expect to get out cheap.
2. You don't expect to leave full.
I don't think I ever even get out of lunch for less then $25 at a regular sushi place. Usually, sushi/sashimi combo, ala carte item, drink, tip. Lets face it there are two things you don't do when you go to buy sushi.

2. You don't expect to leave full.

I always order a seaweed salad and 3 rolls so I always leave full. Usually i'll spend about $60-$70 (for 2) for food, drinks, tip. I always tip my Sushi artist above 15%.
I got two California Rolls for like $3.50ish. It was the daily special. My room mate got some shrimp thing for a similar price...
EDIT: It was like $6. haha I forgot I split the California Rolls with Jimmy, and I had to pay for a drink...so yea, about $6.
