Sometimes its not but it is almost ALWAYS fun......Most of the time I ride Gatewood casue it is the closest trail to where I live, we can make a 10 mile loop and I usually do two laps..... When we go to New Quarter we usually do like 3 laps.....Not a very fast pace. One day my friend that used to ride pro on road bike went I had to show him up. I did one lap in nearly 20 mins.

i know there are trails in newport news right by riverside hospital. a bunch of my friends and i used to go there all the time. if you're headed up warwick it's the last street before lake maury. there's a little flat spot to park there and the trails are to the right. this spot is very noob friendly (we used to take little 20" bmx bikes there) but still alot of fun. i'd be down to go back there sometime, and have a couple guys i know who would come with.

i love montain riding...or offroad, whatver you wanna call it. i know of a couple of trails in williamsburg but they are not marked. they are fun as hell but not for n00bs.

i guess some people would cosider them "dangerous" but they are so much fun. especially in the summer when its humid and all the trees and plants are green.
